The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has assured motorists and residents along the Ofankor–Nsawam road corridor that steps are being taken to address the poor condition of sections of the road. This follows recent complaints and demonstrations by some drivers over the deplorable state of the stretch, particularly between the Sapeiman and Medie/Sansam junction areas. In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, the GHA acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the distressed portions of the road and said contractors have intensified work to resolve the problem. According to the Authority, as of Monday, August 18, five gangs were working simultaneously on both the northbound and southbound lanes to improve riding quality and ensure safety for road users. The Authority appealed to drivers and commuters to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic wardens and flagmen to reduce gridlock during the works. It added that law enforcement agencies have been deployed to assist with traffic management and safeguard road users. “The Ghana Highway Authority remains committed to completing the project. We will continue to provide updates on the progress of work,” the statement noted. The Authority further expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their cooperation as efforts continue to deliver a more durable and safer road.
